A Decade is Long Time

On the first day of 2010, I was single, wanting to throw in the towel and quit, at the end of myself and ministry.

That month God sent me my future husband, I got married and my dad prayed at our August ceremony that God would expand our tent and increase our impact like that of Jabez in the Old Testament. It always stuck out to me because it was such an unusual prayer from my dad, but I also held on to it as a word from the Lord.

I was 32.

Less than three years later we started Hope Community Church. Three years later we moved the church and Hope Extreme to Grand Caillou to expand our reach. Three months later we adopted our forever family of four from the Philippines, life changing for sure. The next year we took over Hope Restored Pregnancy Resource Center helping women for life decisions. And the next year opened a Thrift Store to help support all of the above.

In all of it Jesus has been faithful.
He is the one that holds us fast.
Even when I wanted to throw in the towel.
He picked it up and said gently KEEP ON GOING...

Ten years is such a short amount of time, and such a lifetime. Ten years is also enough time to radically change the world that you live in by remaining faithful and abiding. That truly has been the secret. God moves in the details and faithfulness of his children.

Some things went the way we thought they would...ok almost nothing went the way we thought it would but faithfulness (and upping our prayer life) was key.

The good news is that even when we aren't faithful HE IS.

So use this decade for His glory.
Remain faithful.
Don't quit on His call on your life.
Watch the details.
Remember your first love.
And watch what God will do.

It will be more than you can ask or think
