Reproduce(Commandment to Commission)
The other day I was leaving from the thrift store and someone commented about my smile. How I could be smiling and whistling during these times was a surprise to them. So, I quickly responded the reason why, Jesus. He sort of look dumfounded. But for me it was simply the truth.
Unfortunately, however, I kept walking.
And I get to the door of the church, and I think to myself, Wow I blew it.
I did not see it or was too busy to see the real need…He needed Jesus.
He knew my answer, but that was not His answer.
Jesus is not someone to be kept for us, Jesus is to be shared.
Salvation is to be Shared. Now more than ever.
Matthew 28:16-20The Great Commission
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a]the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Don’t we have an assignment?
Didn’t Jesus give us a commission?
When it becomes us four and no more. There is a problem.
When it doesn’t burden you while driving to church on a Sunday morning that not many people are doing the same. There is a problem.
When you have lost that fire to reach your coworkers, your friends, your family, There is a problem.
You have lost sight of the assignment.
As you follow His commandments, you will want to follow his commission.
Our commandment is to love the Lord with all our heart soul mind and strength.
Reproduce People Who Love God
When we are focused on reproducing, we must start here. Leading in such a way that they will be building people up as the love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. As I lead within the youth here that is my desire. Pizza parties and swim times are great, but really my commission is to teach young people how to Love God correctly.
Your reproduction of children, mission, ministry, disciples reproduce who you are.
My pastor would always say “what you do in moderation, your kids will do in excess.”
Of course, that can be in the bad, but it also works in the good. My prayer is that the people that are coming behind me would love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. And that they would do this better than me.
Even Paul says he I am good because you are doing good!!! Reproduction is working.
And not only that, that they would follow the other commandment equally as hard.
Reproduce People Who Love Others
Reproducing people who love others well. That put the needs of others before themselves.
Our commandment is to love our neighbor as ourselves. To really love.
Not just in word but action. To love people into the Kingdom. That we see true Love.
Ravi Zacharius and American apologetic recently died of cancer and in the middle of quarantine Ted and I would listen to one of his videos every night. And it was always interesting because though he was always defending the faith, defending Christ, He did it in such love.
People knew that He loved.
Everyone in his family and knew Him said that was his defining feature.
Can you imagine when you are being buried that is all that people can say about you.
That you listened and loved well. I am trying to do this better in my life.
That He loved God but that Loved People.
“Love is hard work. It is the hardest work I know of, work from which you are never entitled to take a vacation.”
But it is the work that others will know Jesus by.
They are all tied up together. When you love God and people you will want to go therefore.
Reproduce People Who “Go Therefore”
This is the work of the commandments.
This is the activity of the commandments.
This is the “Invite Your One Sunday”
This is the multiplication of the Gospel.
This is the commission that Christ left us.
Go therefore and make disciples that make disciples that make disciples.
Tell and Pour. Pour and Tell.
Tell others about the good news, and I did say good news.
Pour into others how to Love God and Love Others. (Pouring Object Lesson)
So that they can tell others the good news.
And it continues for generations to come.
It is why we say come to assembly on Sunday and get RESTORED.
Find a connect group on Wednesday and get DISCIPLED.
So that this properly multiples.
That the Sunday groups would expand with people who are following the commands and commission that Jesus left us with.
And the at the Wednesday D groups would expand with people who are loving God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength and loving others.
So that it replicates.
So that it reproduces.
So that the Kingdom wins.
