God Will Judge Me...Be Ready

Story of Going before the judge in the murder case.

I didn’t judge the man.  I saw the evidence that was stated and presented that to the Judge.

The judge judged the law and then made a decision according to what the law says.

Jesus may have been moved to speak as he did by the haughty way the Pharisees had of judging people. In Matthew 5:20 through 7:6, Jesus warns his disciples against following the traditions and practices of the Pharisees, who judged others as if they themselves were beyond judgment. What's more, they judged people by the letter, not the spirit, of the law… (as if they weren’t guilty themselves),

Matthew 7:1-5  Judging Others (Sermon on the Mount)

7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

He goes on to suggest that it's not the act of judging but the attitude with which we do it that God is most concerned about—"For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged" (7:2).  Jesus can’t mean that it’s wrong to make any moral judgments. Just a few verses later, Jesus tells his listeners to make judgments about who they share the truth with. And in verse 15 of the same chapter, Jesus instructs them to judge those who claim to be prophets, to see if they genuinely speak from God or if they’re wolves in sheep’s clothing. Not to mention the numerous other passages in Scripture that command us to make varying types of moral judgments. Jesus doesn’t mean to say all judgment is wrong. And if we’re honest with ourselves, we don’t mean that either.

Yet, when judgment (evidence) hits anywhere close to home, it’s automatically wrong. Who are we to make judgments about others? Let’s think about what Jesus does mean when he tells us not to judge.  It’s ridiculous to harshly condemn others and to stand over them (with a plank in our eyes) or the sin that bothers you…drunkenness, lying, but I practice gluttony, anger is wrong though some sins have deeper consequences…my gluttony will add a few extra pounds and general unhealthiness but as sleeping around with someone that is not your husband or wife comes with much deeper problems and connections. Nobodies life is perfect.

We all have devils, just on different levels.

God is the only judge with clean hands. The rest of us are dirty people, pointing each other to the shower.

You notice he never says, “Take the log out, and don’t worry about other people’s eyes.” He actually says, “First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brothers eye.” He’s telling us to examine ourselves, and then to help the brother out.  It’s unloving for me to notice something harmful in your life, but to ignore it like it’s not there. (Example of one of my daughters beating Morgan’s head in twice after being told not to) Why would I let someone I love to continue to live in a destructive manner? If I love you, I’ll tell you the truth even when it hurts.

But it must be based on God’s standard, not my own. And I have to do it from a humble posture that recognizes (I need a shower too)  I need the same grace you do.

Because we have to walk in the entirety of the Bible.  Not just through one passage.  It would be like only eating sweets, or just eating cheese, or ice-cream.  A balanced diet consists of the five food groups and a balanced Christian exist on the entirety of God’s word.

Galatians 6:1: “Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently.”

We need each other.  We can’t chop and paste scripture so we can get a feel good or to meet our conditions.

We can’t be like Tupac.

He was not correct.

Only God can judge me, that right?
(Only God can judge me now)
Only God baby, nobody else, nobody else
All you other motherfuckers get out my business, really
(Only God can judge me now)

God did judge Him, (a little bit sooner than he probably expected) that was the problem.

James 4:11-17

11 Do not speak evil against one another, brothers.[d] The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

Boasting About Tomorrow

13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. (from the mouth of the judge himself)

So, you know not to Gossip but you still talk about someone…It’s sin not me the Bible

So, you know to give tithes and offering and live generously and you chose not to…It’s sin…

So, you know to honor those in authority in your life and you don’t…it’s sin…

So, whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin…

JUDGMENT #1—The SAVED and The SINNERS

All sin will either be pardoned in Christ or punished in hell.
No sin and no person who sins will slip by, unjudged.

Those who stand before the Great White Throne (Revelation 20) at the end are judged and cast into the lake of fire. But if you’re saved, for you that judgment is already passed.

When did that judgment happen? When Christ died in your place. When Jesus suffered, bled, and died on the cross, He took your judgment for you.

2 Corinthians 5:10-11  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad. 11Therefore, since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is clear to God, and I hope it is clear to your conscience as well.…

JUDGMENT #2—The Works for the Lord

I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. (Revelation 20:12)

And God judges us.

He judges leaders more harshly.

He looks at the evidence and some things burn up and some things become as pure gold.

Not for heaven or hell.

But for his kingdom and rewards to lay at his feet.

You may not be accountable now, but you will be accountable then.

God will Judge You.  Be Ready.
