The Importance of Being Plugged intoBiblical Truth

THE BIBLE HAS TO BECOME A FIXED POINT OF REFERENCE IN OUR LIVES AS BELIEVERS

No fixed point of reference will do us any good unless it has two factors:

1. In the beginning the Wordalready existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God.   John 1:1-2

1. It has to be separate from us.

6. Jesus told Thomas “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man can come to the Father except through me.   John 14:6

2. It can’t be moved.

Postmodernism?

Postmodernism holds the following views:
1. there is no objective reality

2 there is no scientific or historical truth (objective truth)

In those days there was no king in Israel, every man did was right in his own eyes.                                              Judges 17:6

Paul’s instructions to young Timothy:
        2 Timothy 3:14-17

14. But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you.

15 You have been taught the Holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus..

16.  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correctingand training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I. BIBLICAL BASIS FOR TRUTH

CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY:
 the study of the divine revelation of God from three perspectives:

1. It has God as its centerpiece.

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2. God’s Word is the Source.

3. Godliness is its Aim
